Hemingway House, Key West, Florida

The house possesses both architectural and historic interest. Built by Asa F. Tift, a prominent early settler who was active in the Confederate cause during the Civil War, the house is best known as the Key West residence of author Ernest Hemmingway. The house is constructed of native limestone and has a distinctive architectural character.
