Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, Fairfax County, VA

Originally home of Augustine Washington, George Washington's father, it became the first president's home from 1754 until his death in 1799. Became the object of America's first successful nationwide preservation effort when restored by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association of the Union in 1858.
